CPS will be coming to the house this Thursday. We have had the kids for almost 7 months and this will be the first time CPS will have seen the kids since the night they dropped them off. That day was an odd one. We had gone to the library and as soon as we walked in the door of the house, my mom's phone rang. It was my grandmother. She wanted to know if we could take in a little red headed girl. She was family. My mom said yes. Within the next two hours, it went from a baby girl to, a baby girl, her one year old brother, and her five year old brother. We had four hours to get the house ready for the children and CPS. We were on survival mode for days, weeks, months even. We didn't know what to do with a five year old boy. Our boy was only a year old. My dad could tell that it was taking a toll on the family. My dad is working out of town and only comes home on the week ends. My Aunt decided that she wanted the five year old. We were going to ease him into moving, a little at a time. They took him home for two days and went shopping and when they tried to bring him home, he cried. He wanted to stay with them. So, he now lives with my Aunt and her other two sons.
We have since found out that none of these children are family to us, but we still want to keep them. They are part of our family now. I hope they stay that way.
A hopeful foster sister.
